Foundation Stage NewsletterDear Parents Welcome Back and Happy New Year to all our Parents and Carers. A special welcome to new Reception children and parents who will be starting school Full Time on Monday the 11th January 2010. Our Topic Our topic this half term is Weather and we will be learning about snowy, rainy, windy and sunny weather words as well as appropriate clothing for different weathers. During this term we will be looking at the Chinese New Year Celebration and tasting noodles with soya sauce. If you do not wish your child to participate then please let the class teacher know. P.E Please remember P.E kits for your child and ensure that the items are labelled with your child’s name. Reading Books Please make sure that your child brings their reading book with them in a bag. We endeavour to change reading books once a week but please feel free to take your child to the Library or read through other books during the week. This term we would like to make sure the children understand the words they are beginning to de-code in their reading books. Punctuality Can we also remind parents that school begins at 8.55am as there have been quite a few late arrivals which disrupt our RML lessons. Finally please make sure that children come in appropriately dressed for the weather as we go outside no matter what the weather. Many Thanks Reception Staff Mrs Heer Mrs Kosar Miss Cockerton Nursery LetterDear Parent Welcome to the most exciting term of the academic school year. Topic Our topics for this term are Travelling and Creepy Crawlies. Travelling will look at stories linked to travel such as Aliens Love Underpants and We’re All Going On A Bear Hunt. We will explore space travel and ways to move over mud and water. In the second half of the term we will be exploring Mini-Beasts (spiders, bees, ladybirds and caterpillars) bugs, insects and other creepy crawlies. We will be learning about how these mini-beasts behave and what they like to eat. Future Dates School is closed on May 3rd for Bank Holiday and Thursday 6th May for the General and Local Elections. We shall be holding a Sports Day on the 20th July in the Junior playground. Sunny Days As the days become warmer and hotter we would just like to remind parents to send children in with sun hats and with sun block already applied. Nursery children do a considerable part of their learning outside and we need to ensure that they are protected from the sun. Finally please remember the school uniform shop is open on Friday mornings on the bottom floor. It is advisable to purchase uniform in the summer to avoid the September rush. Catherine Williams |
